Pharmacological properties: Pharmacological group - anthelmintics. Veterinary ATC code: QP52AA51. Praziquantel (Praziquantel) - a compound of the group of pyrazinisoquinolines, active against cestodes, increases the permeability of helminth cell membranes for calcium ions, causes a generalized contraction of the muscles of the parasite, turning into permanent paralysis, which leads to the death of helminths. When administered orally, praziquantel is well absorbed in the intestine, reaching a maximum blood concentration in 1-4 hours, binds to plasma proteins (up to 80%), undergoes biotransformation in the liver with the formation of inactive mono- and polyhydroxylated metabolites. It is excreted from the body mainly with urine, and in small quantities - with feces. Fenbendazole (Fenbendazole) is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic agent, used in veterinary medicine and affects many intestinal parasites: lamblia, nematodes and cestodes, in particular tapeworms from the Taenia genus (but not effective against cucumber tapeworm) and some trematodes. Affects adults, as well as parasites in the larval stage and their eggs. The advantage lies in the absence of side effects or their minor manifestations.
